The potential inhibitory effect of turmeric root extract against Porpyromonas gingivalis was studied in vitro. Results show that zone of inhibition caused by Curcuma longa root extract does not exceed the zone of inhibition produced by Minocycline. Turmeric extract has potential for reducing Porphyromonas gingivalis infection that causes periodontal disease.
