Eighty four percent (84%) of people worldwide are addicted to smartphone (Davey & Davey, 2013) while an average person checks in every 6.30 minutes in a sixteen (16) hour waking cycle (Khosia, 2013). In the past decade, they have been developed and increasingly integrated with people's lives (Pitichat, 2013). Mobile telecommunication systems have grown significantly to the point where more than sixth of the world's population use them. Moreover, according to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the extended use of smartphones could expose the thumbs to operational stresses beyond their intended function which may generate pain and musculoskeletal disorders in the thumbs and the associated joints. The combination of repetitive movements, poor posture, and over-use of smartphones for texting or playing games, without taking rest breaks, can cause injury to the nerves, muscles, and tendons in the fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and neck which if ignored, may lead to long-term damage (Kleinert, 2011). De Quervain's tenosynovitis is a common pul condition that causes swelling of the tendon sheath (which covers the tendons as they run through a tunnel on the thumb side of the wrist) or of the tendon themselves (St. George University Hospitals, 2015). Its most common cause is overuse of the thumb musculature (Ashurst et al, 2010). In order to answer the questions presented, the researchers employed a quantitative descriptive method research design. Aliaga & Gunderson (2002) describe it as explaining a phenomenon by collecting quantitative (numerical) data that are analyzed using mathematically based methods such as statistics.
