A survey focusing on the nonmedical use of drugs among high school students was conducted in Tacloban City. A fill-out questionnaire recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) was used to capture the pertinent data. The respondents were those who were currently enrolled in the various high schools, private or public, in Tacloban at the time of the survey (1987).The results suggest that there was a significant number of nonmedical drug users in the various schools surveyed. However, a majority of these students appeared to be only occasional users. In realation to the sample size the heavy users could be said to be only few in number. The identified vulnerable group were those students whose ages fell between the range of 11 to 15 years old.
